How to Take Care of Your Mental Health After an Abortion:
Talk about it. An abortion is a heavy decision. Whether you feel immediate relief or regret or something in between, talking to someone who cares and understands can help you sort through what you’ve experienced. Care Net Treasure Coast provides free after-abortion support for anyone who needs a judgment-free space to talk about their decision and how they are feeling.
Know the warning signs of emotional distress. This can include, but is not limited to, regret, grief, depression, anxiety, or guilt. Some women also experience trauma related to the date of their abortion or the anniversary of what would have been their due date. Every woman feels differently, but knowing the symptoms will help you seek care and heal emotionally.

Seek professional help. If you are experiencing suicidal thoughts or thoughts of harming someone else, seek help immediately. The National Hotline for Abortion Recovery is available to assist you via phone at 866-482-5433 or online: www.nationalhelpline.org.
Whether you recently had an abortion or it's been years, and you've not yet told a soul, this is our message to you: We see you. Care Net Treasure Coast is here for you.
Don't wait another day. Freedom, peace, hope, and healing are all within your grasp. You don't have to settle for feeling lost or uncertain. You don't have to stay silent about your decision. You can find peace today.
